Poole Quay

Read about the project

I feel so grateful to have been invited back once again by this client, to interior design and refurbish the ground floor of their fabulous house in Poole Quay… previously we embarked on a refurbishment of a first floor bedroom in this house, designed specially for their new little arrival!

This project really was so much fun, not only because it is a centuries old tudor house with secret staircases, but I loved hearing the many stories that were relayed to me about the house, its hauntings, and fires that we could still smell when we took down the walls! The most compelling had to be those of Henry VIII visiting his mistress Lilly Langtree there!

This project was somewhat of a stretch, and not our usual remodel, as our client had a penchant for octopuses, bright colours, funky artwork and making a statement! So we set to work to give them something special, and this really did turn out to be one of most collaborative projects we have undertaken!

We hope you enjoy these pix which speaks for themselves, as much as we enjoyed working on this project! We built joinery in their dining area, that provided a place for their tv, hidden storage, fixed banquette seating, which we upholstered in the most gorgeous Romo fabrics, Vintage wood floors were fitted throughout the whole ground floor, which made the house take on a whole new flavour! Beams were painted, electrics were updated with Smart systems, beautiful radiators were brought in to replace what was already there, and the end result was a lot of fun and fit the family perfectly!

See how it was before we started…
